MGD 64 today announced the launch of the MGD 64 iPhone Pedometer App, the first iPhone application that combines the full functionality of a pedometer with the social networking of Facebook.

The free MGD 64 Pedometer application works like a traditional pedometer but comes with the mobile convenience of a cell phone. Taking into account height and weight, the app uses the accelerometer within the iPhone to measure movement and estimate the number of steps taken, distance traveled and calories burned.  The app also has the technology to recognize a change in motion and can recalibrate accordingly.

The MGD 64 Pedometer app also has the unique ability to connect to Facebook users. Once consumers have entered their Facebook log-in information, they have the option to share their progress with friends on their news feed and to join MGD 64 group challenges.

“As the beer that pioneered the super-light beer category, we are excited to provide our consumers with a new, innovative tool to help them maintain their active, sociable lifestyle,” said Tristi Pfeiffer, MGD 64 marketing manager.  “The group challenges provide a sense of community for MGD 64 Pedometer users as they look to share their progress with friends.”

Group challenges allow people to apply the calories they burn and the steps they take towards reaching a common goal with others.  For example, one group challenge is “Walk up Mt. Everest 64 Times,” in which participants can apply the steps they take towards reaching the 704,000 step goal.  Another challenge, “Burn Calories from 64 Pizzas” tasks people with applying the calories they burned towards reaching the collective goal of 152,896 calories burned.

Each group challenge is tracked on both the mobile app and the MGD 64 Pedometer tab on the brand’s Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/mgd64; people can monitor the total number of calories contributed to the challenge, as well as view those with the highest contributions of calories burned.

The app is available online at the iTunes App StoreSM and is compatible with both the iPhone and iPod Touch.

In addition to launching the app, MGD 64 maintains its commitment to active-lifestyle consumers by sponsoring the fourteen-city 2010 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.  Now in its second year as an official race sponsor, the brand utilizes pre- and post-race activities to further connect with consumers living on-the-go lifestyles.

MGD 64 has 64 calories and 2.4 grams of carbohydrates per 12 ounce serving.

While no one can beat the rock solid rhythms of Aerosmith’s legendary drummer Joey Kramer, iPhone users can now challenge their drumming skills on Kramer’s recently released iPhone application “Hit Hard,” created for the famed drummer by PAID, Inc. Celebrity Services

Available on iTunes, the new iPhone “Hit Hard” application (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/joey-kramer-hit-hard/id352442312?mt=8), challenges fans to compete with one another to repeat the legendary drummer’s beats on an iPhone, or leave the competition behind and just knock out their own beats in “freestyle” play. The “Hit Hard” app features original drum beats created and laid down by Kramer.

“Drummers love challenges – I think it’s in our blood,” laughed Joey Kramer. “You can’t get two or more of us together without someone starting to knock out a beat, so “Hit Hard” is just a natural outgrowth of what drummers love to do.”

He added, “I love the app PAID, Inc. has put together for me. The design is killer and the beats are so on – it’s crazy.”

Each level in the game consists of a mock lesson from Joey Kramer where the player taps the correct sequence to match Kramer’s beat as the icons light up on the screen. Upon completing each of the 15 levels, the player will receive a personalized message from Joey Kramer. The game’s leader board allows players to see who comes closest to matching Kramer’s unbeatable grooves, which become increasingly difficult as the game goes on. Once all of the levels have been completed, the player can enter the High Score Contest, for a chance to win a special prize from Kramer as well as bragging rights.

During freestyle play, players can tap the various drums and cymbals that make up Joey’s on-screen drum kit and hear the sounds in real time to knock out their own beats or those of their favorite Aerosmith hits. Freestyle play is not scored and is not part of the Hit Hard competition.

“We are always seeking to deliver programs that build our artists’ direct-to-fan connection attracting new fans and energizing their existing fan communities,” said Keith Garde, president of PAID, Inc. celebrity services. “The ‘Hit Hard’ app brings a ‘piece’ of Joey to his fans. This project is another example of how we at PAID, Inc. engage with our clients in a way that provides for personal and customized campaigns dedicated to building artist-to-fan, fan-to-fan and fan-to-artist connected communities.”

Joey Kramer’s new iPhone application is named after the drummer’s gritty, soul-searching book, “Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top,” which was released in June 2009. In his book, Kramer writes about his rocky life, battles with childhood abuse, drug and alcohol addiction, depression and details how he lived out these experiences as a member of one the greatest rock bands ever known, eventually suffering a nervous breakdown at the height of Aerosmith’s comeback.

Playing drums since he was 14, Kramer has been setting the rhythm for Aerosmith since he was 18. More than 40 years later, Kramer has become an international celebrity winning over fans of all ages with his dynamic percussive beats. As part of Aerosmith, Kramer has sold more than 150 million albums, 21 of which have gone multi-Platinum and has been the subject of multiple documentaries, including “It’s About Time,” which focuses on Kramer’s career.

The Beatles Now Appearing on Your iPhone

Author: editor | Filed under: applications

San Francisco, CA – iPhone(R) app Random Haiku was approved by Apple on Monday, February 8th, and launched in the App Store for sale that evening. Random Haiku is a creative experience that engages both the left and right brain sensibilities with five apps in one!

The Haiku title tab is where your poetic skills come to play. A Haiku poetry generator creates random verses of three lines in 5-syllable, 7-syllable, 5-syllable form with the press of a button or a touch and drag on the screen. Vivid seasonal imagery can be generated embodying feelings of tranquility conveying an ultimately positive emotion. Rich, serene words are used to produce each Haiku generated. Producing a sensible, provocative Haiku form takes some creative thinking. Once a great one is produced, simply select by touch then copy the Haiku for pasting into a social network status or anywhere else – email, Notes file, etc.

And four other tabs have packed the app with so much more. The app is also a:
* Random number generator and dice roller that will throw dice onto your screen with a quick shake and flip.
* Random letter generator enabling customers to create their own word-building games from a set of randomly generated letters.
* Random password generator with the ability to generate and store a password between four and twenty five characters in length.
* Random algebraic speed Or psychic number divination game. Test yourself or compete with friends either mathematically or psychically.

Leveraging iPhone features to add fun, three of the tabs contain sound and visual effects to expand the experience.

Random Haiku Theme: ADAPT
The theme for Random Haiku, and future Dynamicore apps, can be succinctly summed up with DCI’s originally coined acronym – ADAPT – App Diversity Accelerates Productive Thinking. DCI’s devotion to diverse, productive thinking is reflected wholly in Random Haiku, and other apps are currently being designed with ADAPTability in mind.

“Our goal is to provide apps that are designed to move someone using them from a mathematical to an artistic thought with the speed of a tab touch”, said Rob Lind, president and chief architect of Dynamicore. “Why not provide apps that keep the customer’s mind busy in a variety of ways? We believe this will lead to greater creative exposure and broader-based entertainment and learning. It is a gift of nature to have multiple talents and interests and our apps will regularly exercise those powers.”

Experiences Using Random Haiku
One early customer gave the following feedback: “This is the app that Philip Glass would have built, if he built apps. Strangely compelling. The rub-to-fade and accelerometer add to the legend.”

DCI’s demo audience fully enjoyed the app as well. It was noted that they loved the sound effects and the visuals as well as the natural use of the accelerometer functionality. With the built in drum effects the app customer can jump right in and add a little sound spice to any lively event. But depending on the volume of the party one may need to plug into more robust amplification.
Random Haiku 1.0 is only $0.99 (USD) and available exclusively through the App Store in the

Sammamish, Washington – Juicy Bits today released a free update to 3D Camera for iPhone, an app that makes it easy to create 3D photos and share them with friends on Facebook and Twitter. 3D Camera earned 4.5 mice (out of 5) from Macworld and is frequently among the top 100 photography apps worldwide.

To create a 3D image, left and right photos are captured using the built-in camera. An enhanced camera overlay includes three different alignment modes and a “ghost” feature to easily align the two images. If the left and right photos have already been taken, they can be selected from the iPhone photo album.

Next, the two images are repositioned to control the apparent depth of the final 3D photo. Moving the right image to the right causes it to recede back into the screen, while moving it to the left causes it to “pop out.” 3D Camera creates color and grey anaglyph images that are viewed using common red/cyan 3D glasses, stereogram images that are viewed without glasses (parallel and cross-eyed), and “wigglegram” images that produce a simulated 3D effect.

The final 3D photo can be saved to the iPhone photo album for later use, sent to a friend via e-mail, or sent to Facebook and Twitter. Many custom settings are available to control the size, quality, and method used to produce the final 3D image. A “More” button provides access to a short, online video tour and additional documentation.

Feature Highlights:
* Enhanced camera that makes it easy to take two side-by-side photos
* Three different camera alignment modes
* Ability to send 3D photos to Facebook, Twitter, and e-mail
* Touch interface to realign and reposition images
* Automatic cropping of re-aligned images
* Grey and color anaglyph creation
* Parallel and cross-eyed stereogram support for photos that don’t require 3D glasses
* Wigglegram mode for a fun, simulated 3D effect
* Integrated instruction screen with “More” button to access an online video tour and additional documentation
* Button to swap the original photos
* App setting to choose the working image size (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%)
* App setting to enable/disable automatic saving of camera photos
* App setting to automatically boost saturation and brightness of Color and Grey anaglyphs
* App setting to control the size of stereogram borders (and to eliminate them)
* App setting to enable/disable stereogram alignment dots
* App setting to limit the maximum Twitter image dimensions (1024, 800, 640)
* App setting to select the color anaglyph method (full color, half color, optimized, and red/blue)
* App setting to bypass the introduction screen
3D Camera 1.3.3 is $1.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Photography category.

Juicy Bits Updates 3D Camera for iPhone

NAVIGON AG, the leading provider of mobile phone on-board navigation, today announced a significant update for MobileNavigator, the most feature-rich navigation app available on the iPhone platform. Extending comprehensive functionality, the update adds three innovative features: in-app Connection to Facebook and Twitter, Panorama View 3D with 3D terrain views powered by NASA data, and personalized route delivery via NAVIGON MyRoutes, an intelligent direction provider. NAVIGON is showcasing the update prior to its launch in spring at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco, February 11-13, booth #575.

“NAVIGON, an industry first to launch an on-board navigation app on the iPhone platform, remains ahead of the competition by consistently delivering first to market, full-feature updates. Apple’s App Store is ideal for delivering our latest innovations to our users,” said Gerhard Mayr, vice-president worldwide mobile phones & new markets, NAVIGON. “The upcoming fifth version not only redefines routing capabilities on the iPhone platform but also integrates social media connectivity, and outstanding, reliable 3D environment views.”

Further enhancing the proficient iPhone connectivity capabilities, MobileNavigator allows users to broadcast current position, destination and ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) to favorite social media outlets, Twitter and Facebook, without navigation interruption. The easy access in-app icons seamlessly launch and the Twitter feature automatically limits input to the maximum 140, and provides a character countdown.

Complementing the elegant iPhone UI, Panorama View 3D delivers 3D map views through digitized cartography rendered from NASA’s height and terrain data. The full 3D view delivers an accurate depiction of surrounding environment, and what lies ahead with digital landscapes that include elevations, shadows, and geographic images. Panorama View 3D is integrated in-map, independent from the phone’s data connection.

NAVIGON MyRoutes takes personalized route recommendations to a new level with intelligent, customized direction planning. The feature analyzes individual driving data and designs customized routes. Up to three choices with distance and ETA are clearly displayed in-map for each. One primary recommendation based on the user’s driving habits, the day of week and time of travel is provided and the additional two alternatives provide options to choose a preferred route.

MobileNavigator transforms the iPhone into an inclusive navigation device that relies on the GPS receiver, independent from a cell or wireless signal, to provide the most feature rich on-board navigation application. MobileNavigator offers a familiar, yet streamlined user interface that offers intuitive visual feedback and readily accessible connected features, which takes the efficiency of mobile navigation to new heights. It is the only on-board iPhone navigation app available that includes Google Local Search, Reality View™ Pro, branded in-route POI’s, seamless in-app iPod controls, enhanced pedestrian mode, Traffic Live, and soon in-app social media connectivity in one application.
