Neuchatel, Switzerland – Miniclip, the world’s largest website dedicated to online games, is broadening its business to support the mobile gaming platform. With a dedicated audience of more than 57 million casual gamers worldwide and a library of more than 600 online games, Miniclip’s newly formed mobile games division, led by former Skype manager Antonio Sergio Varanda, will develop, publish and distribute its most popular online casual games for mobile operating systems. Consumers can play Miniclip’s online games and then easily purchase the mobile versions on the App Store or Android Market.

“In the era of app fatigue and the overabundance of games for the iPhone, Miniclip has been able to break through the clutter and leverage our massive community of casual gamers to drive awareness and sales,” said Antonio Sergio Varanda, director of the mobile division at Miniclip. “Miniclip has spent the past nine years building the largest online destination site for gamers and establishing a trusted reputation amongst households worldwide. Now with our global distribution platform, we have the capability to distribute and market Miniclip games across multiple channels including online, mobile and console.”

Miniclip has tested its methodology with a handful of externally developed game franchises available for mobile, including Fragger, Monster Trucks, Disc Pool and Monkey Kick. Proving its model to be successful, the company has secured more than 1.9 million paid sales of its mobile games to date. Fragger for iPhone reached the #2 paid app position in the US App Store and #3 in the store’s overall top grossing apps. The car-crushing, adrenaline filled Monster Trucks Nitro II, released in April 2010, made the App Store’s Top 10 ranking and the original Monster Trucks was featured in Apple’s iPhone 3GS television advertising. Monkey Kick, a free game released for iPhone and Android in November 2009, offers simple and addictive gameplay and has generated more than 1.7 million downloads.

Miniclip’s mobile games portfolio includes both new IP as well as some of Miniclip’s most successful online titles. Initial titles slated for release in late 2010 include:

* Ping Pong! – An easy-to-play favorite from Miniclip, players use the iPhone’s accelerometer to move the paddle and bounce the ball as many times as they can. Platforms: iPhone, iPod touch.

* Fragger HD – The top-selling iPhone app that has players tossing grenades at the enemies, gets an upgrade with HD graphics, redesigned completely for the iPad.

* Fragger 2 – The sequel to the top-selling original will include new types of grenades, moving enemies and many more surprises. Platforms: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad.

Christchurch, New Zealand – MiniMonos, the sustainability-focused virtual world for children, today launched its first iPhone app, MiniMonos Flight 1.0. Players of the game become flying monkeys, and have to tilt their iPhones left and right to swoop through the sky, collecting wind clouds and avoiding energy-sapping pollution clouds. Trampolines on the ground provide bouncing rescues to monkeys that get too low.

MiniMonos Flight is an iPhone adaptation of the game on its website, the popular children’s virtual world. Banana chips scored on the iPhone app can be posted to your MiniMonos account.

“We had a great time adapting MiniMonos Flight to the iPhone,” says Greg Montgomery, MiniMonos’ Chief Technical Officer. “It’s quite gratifying to fly in the game by physically moving the device.”

As the iPhone app was receiving the green light from Apple, MiniMonos passed another milestone: inspired by the company’s core values of sustainability, generosity, community and fun, more than 32,000 children from more than 150 countries have now registered for the virtual world. The team at MiniMonos will be continually updating the iPhone app, as well as launching new apps based on the other games in the MiniMonos virtual world like R.A.T.S. (Recycle All This Stuff), Go Go Green, and Monkey Fist.

MiniMonos is a virtual world for children: a place of fun, beauty, discovery, generosity, sustainability and friendship. MiniMonos was created by Melissa Clark-Reynolds so that children could have a place of their own, a place that allows them to explore and grow without constant pressure to buy stuff. It’s a place that embodies core values like sustainability and generosity, without turning those values into a boring lecture. Children’s in-world treehouses require care and nourishment in order to flourish – just like our planet. The games they play are fun games – with a connection to our core values. MiniMonos’ aim is to continually answer the question: What would a virtual world for children look like if sustainability were a given and we could just focus on entertainment? Helsingborg, Sweden – We at Frictional Games are happy to announce that Amnesia: The Dark Descent has gone gold. We are extremely pleased with our creation and cannot wait to unleash our bundle of madness on the 8th of September. We feel that we have taken a giant leap forward compared to our previous games, the Penumbra series.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a first person horror game with a focus on immersion. It is a game where atmosphere and story comes first. We hope that the game will be a breeze of fresh air, in a genre otherwise populated by “one-man-army action hero” sagas. In Amnesia you are almost completely defenseless, something we believe not only makes the game a lot scarier, but also gives a vastly different experience. Do you have what it takes to survive?

Supported Languages:
* US English with localized text for French, German, Italian and Spanish

Recommended Computer Specifications:
* Windows XP/Vista/7, OS X 10.5.8/10.6.4 or Linux distribution released in 2010
* NVIDIA GeForce 6 / ATI Radeon HD
* 2.0 Ghz CPU
* 2 GB RAM
* 2.5 GB Free hard disk space

Pricing and Availability:
On the 8th of September, an interactive nightmare where reality is a fragile concept awaits. Amnesia: The Dark Descent will be priced at only $20 (USD). Journalists are welcome to contact Frictional Games online for review copy requests.

Winston-Salem, North Carolina – Kyle Webster, founder of Big Mouse Media, had big plans for the company’s new title, ‘Plates!’ but did not expect to find the game sitting on the homepage of the ‘Games’ section of the iTunes store after only two days of sales. As the game began to climb the charts and break into the top 200 overall Games list, followed by the top 50 Arcade list and the top 25 Family list, it was evident that a big push might help the game go even further. Kyle and his development partner, Denis Hennessy immediately set out to produce a major update to the original version of the game.

‘Plates!’ 1.2 will feature an entirely new and exciting gameplay mode, entitled ‘Dynamite Dogs,’ as well as new options for sound and music toggling, new OpenFeint functionality (new leaderboards and achievements), improved graphics, and improved scoring.

The team worked day and night at a frantic pace to ready the new version for release, knowing how crucial timing can be in the fickle and unpredictable world of App Store rankings. They are confident that the traction ‘Plates!’ has sustained throughout its first week of sales will be enough to place the game in prime position for another big leap when the update goes live September 9th.

‘Plates!’ was the TUAW App of the Day, a recipient of a four-star review from Macworld UK, and a perfect 5-star game on the AppConsumer website. Player reviews are averaging 4.5 stars, as well.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later
* 12.9 MB

Pricing and Availability:

Columbia, South Carolina – Created by a retired research mathematics professor, Circular Tic Tac Toe 1.0 is the only game of its kind on the iPad App Store. It’s as easy to learn as Tic Tac Toe, but with considerable tactical and strategic complexity. The play is challenging, exciting, and filled with surprises.

The two-player game consists of a circular board divided by a grid into 32 squares. The players place pieces in consecutive turns with the objective being to get four pieces in a row around the circle, in a line from the center, or in a spiral. The user can play another human or play the computer at any of five strength levels from Easy up to Expert (where the computer can find forced wins in up to 12 moves ahead). In addition to the game play, the app includes 50 puzzles in three difficulty levels – with more to come in updates.

Circular Tic Tac Toe supports both landscape and portrait modes. The game is very small, less than 2MB, and loads almost instantly. Game play is smooth, fluid, and nicely animated. The user has the option to hide all the buttons and labels on the screen for a fully immersive game experience. All settings are preserved between sessions, and the user will resume a game exactly where she left off. The app includes detailed, but easy to access, documentation of all its features.

Device Requirements:
* Compatible with iPad
* Requires iPhone OS 3.2 or later
* 2.1 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Circular Tic Tac Toe 1.0 is $2.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category. An iPhone version of the app is planned for release in the early fall.
