What are the New Features on the iPhone 4?

Author: editor | Filed under: News

Vancouver (BC) Canada – Moving Tales Inc., producer of innovative and exciting 3D Animated Storybook Apps, today released an upgrade for the first story in its Classic World Tales series, The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross.

The Pedlar Lady v1.01 upgrade has a number of new features, including additional musical accompaniment and sound effects, random audio effect implementation and stability improvements. A free upgrade for existing users, The Pedlar is available for new iPad users at the App Store for $4.99.

“The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross is a completely unique and unforgettable iPad multi-media experience,” said Moving Tales’ founder, Matthew Talbot-Kelly. “Especially with these additional features. The newly-implemented random sounds in combination with the existing random alternate camera selections ensure there are literally thousands of unique viewings of the story. We’ve also added stability improvements and additional image and sound accents – for example, the jewel in Crow’s beak is now red, and we can hear the bumblebee and a lovely humming ditty from the pedlar herself.”

Moving Tales also announced that iPhone and localized Spanish versions of the The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross will be released imminently. “We are beta testing right now,” said Talbot-Kelly. “The app works, reads and plays beautifully. I am very encouraged by the iPhone/iPod touch user experience – it has an identical feature set to the iPad version, of course reformatted for the smaller screen. The intention is for all future Moving Tales to be released simultaneously for the iPad and iPhone platforms.”

The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross:
Inspired by the age-old tale of a man who becomes rich through a dream, The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross describes the journey of a poor pedlar woman who, guided by the shifting line between the real and the unreal, discovers a surprising and wonderful treasure.

Classic World Tales:
Each App in Moving Tales’ Classic World Tales series features film-caliber, sophisticated 3D animation and text, original music and evocative filmic sound effects to create imaginative interpretations and adaptations of classic folk tales, archetypal yarns and legends from around the world. The apps’ dynamic typographic layouts can be animated using the iPad’s accelerometer, incorporate randomly selected alternate perspectives to ensure no two viewings are alike, use Cover Flow-like navigation and include compelling, poetic voice-over narratives.

By presenting tales of transformation, truth, drama and humor using a state-of-the-art digital ‘mash-up’ of methods from the worlds of ebook publishing, graphic novels, film and interactive media, Moving Tales establishes a truly original and engaging new world of storytelling.

“We started Moving Tales to expand and explore storytelling on the iPad/iPhone platform,” said Matthew Talbot-Kelly, Founder, Producer and Director of Moving Tales. “Not just any stories, but tales with rich legacies, many of which have been told for millennia. We are taking these stories for a walk – rephrasing and reframing them in a way that is compelling and appropriate to this new platform. Although they have aspects of books, animated films, storytelling and interactive media, the result is greater than the sum of its parts. Our very bold intention is to develop the first great iPad/iPhone storybook app.”

About Matthew Talbot-Kelly:
Matthew Talbot-Kelly, is the Editor, Director and Producer of Moving Tales. Born in Dublin, Ireland and raised in Toronto, Canada. Sophia Antipolis, France – L’Escapadou today is pleased to announce and release and availability of one of the first educational iPad apps based on the proven Montessori learning method. Beginning or fluent readers will use the multi-level, auto-corrective crosswords to develop their writing/reading skills by building more or less phonetically complex words from a set of pictures shown. Packed with fun animations and sounds, Montessori Crosswords also features an animated Movable Alphabet to entertain younger kids and help them learn letters.

Montessori Crosswords provides an amusing way to learn letters for children as young as 3, and can be used by children up to 10 or more to improve and reinforce their word-spelling and literacy skills. The game is auto-corrective, and the 3 increasingly difficult levels are based on the word series defined in the Montessori teaching according to the phonetic difficulty of each word.

Also featured is a standalone animated movable alphabet providing open-ended activities with letters for young children who don’t know letters and their phonetic sounds yet. An article including a quick introduction to the Montessori approach to reading and writing, and how to use the game as an educational tool, is also provided.

Montessori Crosswords was created after we observed our homeschooled daughter having fun with a Montessori picture-spelling activity. We wanted to recreate this experience in a lighweight format, adding all the fun that the iPad technology can bring, such as direct interactions, animations and sounds, as well as automatic crosswords construction.

Features:
* 282 different words, and associated pictures – more to come
* Three word series of increasing difficulty, as defined in the Montessori method
* Crosswords are created randomly to offer thousands of different combinations
* Letter case choice
* Movable Alphabet Layout choice – alphabetical order or vowels/consonants as in Montessori
* 21 Fun and colorful animations displayed upon completion of a crossword
* Different colors for vowels and consonants – Montessori standard colors
* Total number of completed words displayed

TRANSFORMERS G1: AWAKENING FREE

Author: editor | Filed under: Featured, games

Montreal, Canada – Announcing that PMChampion, the developer of This is GRE and This is GMAT, has launched the first two apps of their ‘This is…’ series, to help grad school hopefuls succeed in their entrance application. These apps are the first two in a series of fully loaded, complete training packages for students preparing for entrance to graduate school and college. The applications help users score as high as they possibly can on their Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and to increase chances of being accepted by their preferred university.

The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) are required parts of a grad school application in most U.S. universities. As the test gives an indication of a student’s potential success, it carries substantial weight when administrators are considering applications for entrance to their programs. Understandably, universities prefer to welcome those with a greater chance for a successful academic term. Writing the GRE or GMAT is serious business.

Developers at PMChampion specialize in educational courses and have designed these applications as comprehensive training packages containing everything students need to know before taking either of the exams. Unlike other apps, developers have left nothing out. Users are fully prepared to give their entrance exams their best shot after completing the training. In fact, the developers boast that users of This is GMAT will raise their scores by at least 100 points, if they follow the program properly.

When users download This is GRE or This is GMAT, they get all the educational tools they need in one convenient spot on their iPhone or iPod Touch. There are numerous aids including lessons, vocabulary, practice tests and valuable study tips, all geared to prepare students thoroughly for taking their exam.

While the developers naturally cannot guarantee admittance to any university or program, all of the apps from their ‘This is…’ series can help students do the absolute best they’re capable of for this part of entrance requirements.

This is GRE and This is GMAT may be segments of an ongoing series but they are also part of an existing educational product line for PMChampion. The developers offer an online training course for the Project Management Professional (PMP) Exam, which assists those trying for certification and have future plans for the release of This is SAT for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), which is due out sometime in March 2010.

Device Requirements:
iPhone or iPod Touch 3.0 or later

Pricing and Availability:
This is GRE and This is GMAT are each only $9.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Education category. Take advantage of ongoing introductory discounts that are offered for a limited time.
