Apple iPhone’s iOS 11.2.5 Beta 3, now available

Apple has released new beta versions of iOS, watchOS, macOS, and tvOS for developers to test. Apple’s iOS 11.2.5, watchOS 4.2.2, macOS 10.13.3, and tvOS 11.2.5 beta 3 are all available now. Apple has seeded the third beta of an upcoming iOS 11.2.5 update to developers It comes two weeks after seeding the second beta and three weeks after releasing iOS 11.2.1. 11.2.1 update introduced a fix for a HomeKit vulnerability.

As of beta 2, iOS 11.2.5 includes a new feature that allows Siri to play daily news podcasts when queried about the news. Siri will offer up news shared by The Washington Post by default, but you can also choose to switch to Fox News, CNN, or NPR.

More than just a new ability, this feature seems to be designed with the upcoming HomePod in mind. After all, it only works when there is no accessible display, which is exactly what Apple’s first smart home speaker is. It is Apple’s way of making news consumption more enjoyable on such a screen-less device with limited direct touch controls. Read more on this here.

As far as what’s actually in iOS 11.2.5 Public Beta 3, we get the security fixes. Update patches the Camera app’s autofocus bug that was included in the official iOS 11.2.1 patch. Furthermore we may see a myriad of bug fixes and security patches.

How to install iOS 11.2.5 Public Beta 3?

If you’re already enrolled in the beta program, you can go to Settings > General > Software Update and click Download and Install to get started. If you are not registered than, first head over to https://beta.apple.com/. There, sign in with your enrolled Apple ID (or create a beta account if you don’t have one already).

Note : This is beta software and hence Apple makes it extremely clear in the agreement you scroll past on the way to the Agree button that it can do anything up to and including bricking your device and corrupting your data.

It is highly recommended to backup your data before enrolling for the Beta version. Remember, any time you want, you can hop off the beta release train by deleting your beta profile.
